The story of a successful businessman Boris Gordin, who, it would seem, life was a success. He is young, handsome and has everything that many only dream of: success, family, a big house ... But, despite the apparent prosperity, nothing fills his life with meaning, does not cause genuine interest until one day Gordin finds a photograph of a silent movie star. He is so fascinated by the beauty of the actress that he decides to find a modern girl, like two drops of water similar to her. In his search, the failed director Panov helps him. Veronica, who, like two drops of water, looks like the famous silent film actress Vera Listovskaya, for Gorin becomes an unattainable ideal. Veronica is a simple girl with a difficult fate, a resident of a small provincial city in which there is an abandoned military unit. Father died, mother - in prison. She lives in an old barracks, works at a local sawmill. A novice writer takes care of her, and in fact, a former prisoner Izyumov, whom the girl sheltered after her release. It seems to her that in life everything will always be invariably gray, until fate knocks on her door with a strange and unexpected offer ...
